Your data

Boursicotbot is a stock market simulation game. Here is what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

01Your account

Your email, username, display name, password (hashed, never readable) and passkeys. They are used to sign you in and identify you in the game.

Your paper portfolio, your orders and your performance history: that is the game itself.

02Visit statistics

On every page, we record the IP address and the city, region, country and internet provider derived from it (DB-IP Lite database, queried on our own server), the browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, landing page and the site that referred you.

A random visitor ID is kept in your browser (local storage, no advertising cookie). No data is shared with a third-party analytics tool or sold.

This data helps us understand traffic, improve the game and protect accounts (suspicious sign-ins, abuse).

03Chatting with the bot

Your messages to Le Boursicoteur 3000 and its replies are stored with your account. Administrators can read them to monitor costs, abuse and the quality of its answers; clearing the conversation removes it from your window, not from our records.

To reply, your messages are sent to Anthropic (the Claude service), without your email or your name. Don’t write personal information in them.

04The security log

Sign-ups, successful or failed sign-ins, added passkeys and administrator actions, with the IP address and device. It is used to detect fraudulent access.

05Retention

Visits and the security log, full IP addresses included, are deleted after 13 months. Your account, your portfolio and your conversations with the bot are kept for as long as your account exists.

06Where your data lives

On our dedicated server. Stock quotes come from Alpaca, exchange rates from Coinbase and the Bank of Canada: we send them no personal data. Only your messages to the bot go to Anthropic, as described above.

07Your rights

You can ask to access your data, correct it or delete your account. The person in charge of protecting personal information is Boursicotbot’s administrator; write to them at the site’s contact address.
